Help African Diaspora Women Become the Leaders They Were Born to Be!

Our Story
Ayada Leads’ mission is to prepare New Americans, particularly African diaspora women, for leadership positions across the spectrum of societal influence. We envision a world where African diaspora women and girls feel valued, safe, and prepared to follow their academic, professional, and personal dreams. To achieve this, we focus on leadership development and civic engagement as key strategies.
Minnesota is home to a growing African diaspora, with Somalis, Liberians, Kenyans, Nigerians, and Ethiopians among the largest African communities in the state. However, a sizable number of these New Americans find it difficult to participate in civic life due to barriers. In response, Ayada Leads ensures that our workshops and resources are culturally relevant, linguistically accessible, and inclusive. We take pride in being a Black-led, women-led, and immigrant-led organization.
Ayada Leads’ goals are to increase the number of Black women who are running for public office, improve the communication and advocacy skills of mothers who want to be involved in their children’s education, develop the leadership skills of young women seeking professional and personal growth, enhance the civic literacy of New Americans, and advocate for the welfare of the Black community.
